City of Collinsville

Collinsville Real Estate

If you’re looking to live “in the country” but don’t want to be too far from the conveniences of Tulsa, consider the quaint city of Collinsville.

Collinsville is conveniently located just 20 miles from downtown Tulsa, 12 miles from the Tulsa International Airport and Aerospace Complex, 18 miles from the Port of Catoosa and 7 miles from the Cherokee Industrial Park.

The city of Collinsville itself is just three square miles and is largely residential.  Around the city, you’ll find rolling hills, prairie land and agricultural property.  Much of the city’s original buildings from the 1800s and 1900s are in use today.  The historic character of Collinsville significantly lends to the charm of this small city.  In fact, many of the early 1900s residences still exist today on the streets of Spring, Walnut, 16th and 5th.

Each year Collinsville offers a host of festivals and events including the Hog-N-Hot Rods, 4th of July Fireworks, Taste of Collinsville, Just Treats No Tricks, Veteran’s Day Parade and Christmas Parade & Merchant giveaway.

Each June through October, you can enjoy the Collinsville Farmers Market.  The market is a retail outlet for local farmers, gardeners and producers. You’ll find fruits, vegetables, eggs, dairy, meat, nuts and more.

The Collinsville Tri-County Fair is held near the end of August and offers 4H events and exhibits, livestock competitions, tractor driving contests, dog show, local vendors and more.

Collinsville City Park offers softball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, a playground and picnic tables.  The park is open year round.

Families looking to raise their children in a friendly community will feel right at home in Collinsville.  You’re just a short drive from both Tulsa and Bartlesville and an abundance of real estate opportunities exist today.

The History of Collinsville

In it’s earliest days, settlers were drawn to the Collinsville area by the fertile bluegrass prairie and the coal beneath it.  In 1897, the roots of Collinsville were just beginning.  The area was without a name for quite some time, until the citizens persuaded Dr. A.H. Collins to move his post office to the new settlement.  It was originally located just two miles north of present-day Owasso.  In exchange for moving it, residents promised the new town would be named after him.

In 1899, the Santa Fe railroad laid tracks through Collinsville and shortly thereafter, the residents of the old settlement moved to the new location.  Today, the town’s boundaries include 126th St. North on the South side and 166th Street North on the North side.  US Highway 75 is just four miles west of downtown.

In the early 1900s, natural gas was found near Collinsville.  Forty to fifty men worked the brick plant in town.  The bricks produced here were shipped all over the US.  In 1913, the bricks were used to pave the streets of town (about 50 blocks), as well as the brick buildings and numerous homes.

In 1911, the smelter industry came to town and Prime Western and Bartlesville Zink smelters were located in Collinsville.  Large numbers of people moved to Collinsville to live and work in the plants.  The town was also one of the first in the Indian Territory to have a municipally owned light and power plant.

Buying or Selling

  • Why Use A Realtor?

Real estate transactions are one of the biggest financial investments most people experience in their lifetime. Transactions today usually exceed $100,000.

If you had a $100,000 income tax problem, would you deal with it without the help of a CPA?

If you had a $100,000 legal question, would you deal with it without the help of an attorney?

Considering the small upside cost and the large downside risk, it would be foolish to consider a deal in real estate without the professional assistance of a REALTOR®.
